This course introduces modern energy market evolution, focusing on decentralization, legislation, liberalization, and sustainable future opportunities for utilities, with national and European perspectives.

Description

Learning objectives:

  • This course provides an induction of a new modern and efficient perception of the evolution of energy markets, from the traditional one to the incentive environment in which the owner, operator or trader of utilities are also profitable.
  • At the same time, it analyses the development, structure, coordination of national and European legislation and the way in which energy markets have evolved from centralized to the current decentralized form.
  • It also trains students how to identify what determines sustainable future of energy markets, while addressing the responsibility and efficiency of the opportunities resulting from the liberalization paradigm (the role of the state, liberalization and deregulation measures, the role of regulation).
  • Students will develop the ability to understand the importance of the evolution rate of the internal energy market correlated with the dynamics of the European and international markets.
