Description

This course provides a broad overview of the energy trading and the various strategies that can be used by market participants.

Learning objectives:

  • Students will learn the general principles of how gas and power markets work and how energy trading is carried out in the various different types of markets – spot and forward, exchange-based and OTC.
  • Students will gain an understanding of determinants on demand and supply, the use of derivatives and derivatives pricing.
  • The course addresses issues relating to risk management on volatile markets and hedging techniques.
  • Real-time trading examples using the various technical tools and techniques shall be analysed.
