Irene is the Director of the Executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics (The Blue MBA) at Copenhagen Business School (CBS), Europe’s leading institution of its kind. From the beginning, she has been responsible for the design, development and co-ordination of The Blue MBA. On behalf of CBS, she has a fundamental role in building global relationships and networks within the maritime industry. She also promotes research identifying challenges and future issues for the maritime industry as a whole. She is a member of many international boards and committees. Based on her extensive international network and experience, she has been entrusted with major roles in varied maritime-related activities, and speaks at leading maritime events.
CARMEN ACATRINEI

With over 17 years of academic experience, Carmen brings strong expertise in digital marketing, strategic communication, and customer relationship management. She previously served as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Marketing at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (2020–2024), where she was responsible for student affairs and partnerships with the business community.
At Bucharest Business School, she contributes to the coordination of executive education initiatives. Her international academic exposure includes teaching and research mobility projects in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Slovenia, and Croatia.
Experienced leader with +20 years of leadership experience across multiple industries managing multi-cultural and global located teams within strategy, GenAI, project management/management consultancy, communication, analytics, finance, port merger integrations and large-scale capital investments. Started career as an energy, shipping and raw-material trader/bioenergy developer following a career with within finance and sourcing of R&D services in the pharma industry. Currently, employed as Vice President, Strategy, Portfolio Management and Analytics in a top tier global pharmaceutical company. Educational track-record: eMBA in Shipping & Logistics Copenhagen University, MSc studies from Copenhagen University and Oxford University. Serve on Boards and advisory committees in United Kingdom and Denmark.
Master Mariner with a long experience as an officer and captain in the Swedish merchant navy. Later, more than 30 years’ experience within the shipping and port industry as managing director and later as board member in transport and logistical companies and in several ports.
Mr Karlsson has been an originator and initiator of the development of the Scandinavian port industry and has been responsible for several efficiency-increasing mergers of ports, stevedores and terminal operators. The last being the merger of the ports of Copenhagen and Malmö into the jointly owned and operated Copenhagen Malmö Port AB.
As a chairman and board member of ports he has focused on designing, construction, financing and developments of ports in Scandinavia and abroad.
More than 30 years of experience with finance and economics, of which 25 years is with management. Since 2014 I have worked as CFO at Port of Esbjerg. Originally educated auditor, worked at KPMG for 6 years. Many years of experience as Finance Manager in different industrial companies, whit full responsibility for finance, IT and HR as well as responsible for the legal aspects of corporate contracts.
Also been Global Finance Manager in two international groups, with production facilities in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe (Romania) and China. Here I had both direct and matrix management across companies and national borders. In my current job, I am heavily involved in financing large projects and constructions, digitalization and optimization using various IT tools, and not least protection against cybercrime, which is increasingly a part of everyday life.
Maritime Sustainability Expert

Rasmus Elsborg-Jensen has more than 17 years of experience in maritime sustainability, lifecycle assessment (LCA), and regulatory compliance. He is the founder and CEO of ReFlow, a company specializing in data-driven decarbonization and environmental impact assessments for the shipping and port industries. Rasmus has worked extensively with shipowners, maritime producers, and regulators to develop vessel LCA methodologies, covering construction, operations, and end-of-life. He is also one of the initiators of ISO 8933, a new international standard for maritime energy efficiency.
As an EU Climate Pact Ambassador and member of the IMPA SAVE Council, Rasmus actively contributes to sustainability initiatives in the maritime sector, focusing on Scope 3 emissions, ESG compliance, and digital solutions for environmental reporting. He holds a CBS Blue Board Programme certification and has pursued executive education at NYU and Harvard Business School. His expertise lies in bridging regulatory demands with business strategy, helping the maritime industry navigate CSRD, CSDDD, and IMO fuel lifecycle regulations.
