Strategic decision-making is a key competency for board members. Participants will explore the decision-making process at the board level, focusing on strategic thinking, critical thinking, and independence of thought. This segment will provide practical tools and frameworks for making informed, forward-looking governance decisions.
A critical factor in board effectiveness is the relationship between the board and executive leadership. The module examines the dynamics of the board-executive relationship, the Chair-CEO dynamic, and potential governance dysfunctions. Participants will explore best practices for board involvement in executive selection, motivation, and removal, as well as strategies for board induction, evaluation, and continuous education to ensure ongoing governance excellence.
