Dr. Maria-Alina Carataș is a lecturer with over with over 13 years in higher education, currently teaching at the Ovidius University of Constanța and at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (FABIZ), where she teaches in English and French on Intercultural Management, Business Strategies, Economics, and Public Project Management.

Dr. Carataș brings a multidisciplinary perspective informed by her background in entrepreneurship and corporate sales, complemented by extensive academic engagement.

Her academic work is enriched by experience in entrepreneurship and corporate sales, along with international teaching mobilities in France, Spain, Norway Poland, and Turkey. Her research focuses on sustainability, organizational strategy, and public-sector innovation. She has contributed to EU-funded initiatives promoting inclusive education and regional development, with a notable focus on marine pollution reduction in the Black Sea region.

With over 17 years of academic experience, Carmen brings strong expertise in digital marketing, strategic communication, and customer relationship management. She previously served as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Marketing at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (2020–2024), where she was responsible for student affairs and partnerships with the business community.

At Bucharest Business School, she contributes to the coordination of executive education initiatives. Her international academic exposure includes teaching and research mobility projects in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Slovenia, and Croatia.

Experienced leader with +20 years of leadership experience across multiple industries managing multi-cultural and global located teams within strategy, GenAI, project management/management consultancy, communication, analytics, finance, port merger integrations and large-scale capital investments. Started career as an energy, shipping and raw-material trader/bioenergy developer following a career with within finance and sourcing of R&D services in the pharma industry. Currently, employed as Vice President, Strategy, Portfolio Management and Analytics in a top tier global pharmaceutical company. Educational track-record: eMBA in Shipping & Logistics Copenhagen University, MSc studies from Copenhagen University and Oxford University. Serve on Boards and advisory committees in United Kingdom and Denmark.
