This module examines energy system transformation in response to climate change, exploring causes, challenges, solutions, and stakeholder roles through interactive simulations and case studies.
Description
This module explores the transformation process of our energy systems, as an urgent response to climate change effects and the need to take climate mitigation actions.
Learning objectives:
- Understanding relevant details related to climate change and its effects, bringing together causes, current challenges and potential solutions, based on multiple climate scenarios (including interactive in-class simulations).
- Transitioning to the current energy systems transformation and exploring the tensions of the energy trilemma (energy security – energy affordability – environmental sustainability).
- Understanding the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition process
- Understanding the role of different stakeholders in the energy transition process, the importance of the policy making process and how policy design is affecting and influencing their social and economic status.
