This course introduces leadership, HR management, and organizational behavior principles, emphasizing their application and techniques in the energy sector.

Description

The general purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the basic principles and techniques of leadership, human resource management, organizational behaviour and their particularities applied in the Energy sector. The course takes a practical view that integrates the contributions of the behavioural sciences with the technical aspects of implementing the HR function in the Energy businesses.

Learning objectives:

  • Appreciate the importance of human resource management as a field of study and as a central management function for energy businesses;
  • Understand the implications for human resource management of the behavioural sciences, government regulations, and court decisions;
  • Know the elements of the HR function (e.g. recruitment, selection, training and development, etc.) and be familiar with each element’s key concepts & terminology with specifications for the energy sector;
  • Apply the principles and techniques of human resource management gained through this course to the discussion of major personnel issues and the solution of typical case problems within the energy business area;
  • Develop managerial capabilities of playing a variety of roles within the organization (leader, team player, colleague);
  • Natural development of teams and working culture along time and team/organizational behaviour for high performances.
