This module equips executives with frameworks for strategic planning, execution, and evaluation, focusing on governance alignment, performance metrics, and digital transformation readiness.

Description

Strategic leadership is at the core of every successful organization. This module provides a comprehensive framework for developing, executing, and evaluating corporate strategy, equipping board members and senior executives with the tools and insights needed to drive long-term growth and competitive advantage. Participants will explore the key elements of strategic planning, the challenges of execution, and the role of governance in ensuring alignment between a company’s vision and its business decisions. Through expert-led discussions, real-world case studies, and interactive sessions, this module enhances strategic thinking, performance evaluation, and digital transformation readiness at the board level.

This module combines the theoretical expertise provided by academics with the practical experience of industry experts. They will participate in a panel moderated by Mihai COCA-COZMA, where they will discuss real-world applications of the concepts studied.

Key Topics Covered

The module begins with a deep dive into corporate purpose, mission, and vision, emphasizing the role of board members in shaping an organization’s strategic direction. Participants will analyze how these foundational elements influence decision-making, corporate identity, and long-term value creation.

An effective strategy is not just about formulation—it is about execution and continuous monitoring. This section explores the tools and methodologies used to develop and implement strategy, including scenario planning, competitive positioning, and performance tracking. Participants will also examine the most common reasons why strategies fail and how board oversight can mitigate these risks.

Evaluating strategy and management performance is a critical function of board governance. The module covers strategic evaluation tools, key performance indicators (KPIs), and the role of remuneration policies and committees in aligning executive incentives with corporate objectives.

The final section of the module addresses the increasingly important topic of digital transformation strategy. In an era of rapid technological change, board members must understand the risks and opportunities presented by digital disruption. This segment explores board-level responsibilities in overseeing digital strategies and ensuring business agility in a digital-first world.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module, participants will have a structured approach to strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation. They will gain a deeper understanding of corporate mission and vision, develop the skills to assess strategy execution and business performance, and enhance their ability to oversee digital transformation initiatives.
