This course develops skills in big data and machine learning, combining theory with R-based practical applications and modeling techniques.

The course aims at developing the understanding and modeling ability of the students with respect to big data and machine learning. The lectures will combine the theoretical aspects with practical issues and computing abilities that can be used in R. The students will be able to work with Big Data and apply different machine learning models to model this type of complex data.

At the end of this module, you will:

• Understand the key issues about Big Data;
• Understand the basics of machine learning models;
• Learn to apply basic machine learning models in R.
