This course is an introduction to cultural diplomacy, designed to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge needed in this field, learning what it means, how it works, what is the importance of real cultural diplomacy in today’s world and what is the result of putting talented contemporary artists from different cultures in the spotlight, in combination with state actors and international organisations, as well as with non-state actors. The course has the potential to become an instrumental tool for culture managers who strive to perform more effectively in their working environment, as well as to be a must-have for anyone willing to explore this area.
At the end of this module, you will:
- develop the skills to use concepts from the sphere of cultural diplomacy such as cultural cooperation, cultural export, public diplomacy, soft-power, transnational cultural relations
- learn how to connect artists, curators, universities, local interests, business people and cultural diplomacy field
